You can be "charged" with murder... being convicted of it is a different story.
You do not need a body to convict, both with life in prision and capital punishment.

Yes ... you could (and probably would) be charged with murder. During the trial, the defense of 'self defense' would be asserted and if the facts supported that assertion, your character would be exonerated (found innocent).
The test for self defense only applies to imminent physical danger or clear threat of fatal force. Saying 'I am going to kill you' would not necessarily meet that test ... saying 'I am going to kill you' while pointing a loaded gun at someone potentially does meet that test.
Simply calling someone a &%##$ does not meet that test and your character would not get off the hook for killing somebody who called him|her a &%##$
With respect to the body ... obtaining a conviction is easier ... but it is not absolutely necessary if there is other substantial evidence that the crime was committed.
BTW: given the context and urgency of the question ... if you are contemplating more than a fictional action in a story ... DON'T DO IT.

If its self defence, you will be hassled, and busted, but the murder charge will not usually stick...(in fact, they probably wont prosecute you)...
But since you put it on this site, then you would be advised that you have to take ALL precautions in order to avoid this situation, so that you dont put yourself into a position in which you find that you will have to defend yourself, to the circumstance of killing, or taking a life.
I wish you well..

Yes! name calling is not a threat to your life, no they don't need the body to convict. Maybe you should try reading a few books first.

Sure you will be charged for murder. You will have to suffer all the physical & emotional pains that go with it at that level, but, at another level if the court decides that you killed him in self defense, u will be discharged & aquited.

Sticks and stones can break your bones but words can never harm you. Remember that rhyme? In a court of law, self defense refers to protecting oneself from bodily harm. If you can't handle insults, then perhaps you should get couseling and learn the difference between a real threat and verbal slight.
