It might be dangerous because of the fever. I only had a toe infection when I was pregnant and I was so worried but reassured by my OB/GYN that it was okay. I'm glad to see that you're going to the doctor and not just trusting people out here. Good luck!

Just went through something like this with the whole fam. Turned out it was mono. The kids had a fever of 103+ and sore throats headaches body aches. It lasted only 3 days for my kids (8months and 3 years) but almost 3 weeks for me and hubby! If it was confirmed by a doctor that you had strep go get her antibiotics in the morning. There's probably no need to rush to the er tonight unless she's having very serious issues. The fever reducer IS working and working pretty darn well if she's down to 100, it only lowered my kids fever to 101.5! If she's breathing we'll, peeing enough, she's not inconsolably crying then wait it out till morning and keep an eye on her and keep her comfy. Try to push some fluids because staying hydrated will help lower her fever. I know it's terrifying when the babies are sick but if I had rushed my kids to the er for every high fever we'd be broke and have wasted a lot of time. But if you really think something is horribly wrong with her (other than strep and a fever) take her there. After all you know your kid better than anyone. Oh and don't forget that the fever is the body's defense to kill off the germs. A fever isn't so bad it just makes us uncomfortable. Brain damage doesn't start to happen until it gets higher than 106

Per Dr. Lawrence Jay Rappaport M.D. (Ob-Gyn Specialist Expert) (see http://experts.about.com/q/ObGyn-Pregnancy-issues-1007/34-weeks-pregnant-strep.htm): "Certainly, if you have a sore throat and fever, a throat culture should be done. If it is, indeed, a streptococcal infection, you should be treated with antibiotics. However, a throat infection should not cause any harm or threat to the baby...."
Yes, because once it gets a rash...it becomes scarlet fever (which I had as a child and that is no picnic, believe me!)
from Dr. C. Edgar Koop's Website (former surgeon general)
"The infection is spread by person-to-person contact with nasal secretions or saliva, often among family or household members.
People with strep throat get sick 2–5 days after they are exposed. The illness usually begins suddenly, with a fever that peaks on the second day. Many also have sore throat, headache, stomachache, nausea, or chills.
In some people, strep throat is very mild, with only a few of these symptoms. In others, strep throat is severe. There are many strains of strep. Some strains produce toxins that can lead to a scarlet fever rash. This rash is thought to be an allergic reaction to the toxins. Untreated, strep throat can sometimes lead to rheumatic fever. Kidney complications are among the other possibilities."

yes I have been very sick with my last one. I was in bed sleeping for almost a week. Make sure you take some Tylenol. Do not take anything with a aspirin or acetaminophen in it. It is a blood thinner and not good right now. It is good to see a doctor, but get your fever down, right away, it is not good during prego. feel better.

I don't think it will harm your baby. I would go to the Dr. just in case, though. When I was 14 weeks I got a stomach virus and thought I was dying. But it didn't hurt the baby at all.
