Nature or nurture... who cares... straight people keep making them for us. What ever you are doing, keep up the good work.

I don't think gays really increase in number. That is, there isn't a significant increase in the proportion of gay people vs. straight people from one generation to the next. What we DO witness is an increase in the number of OPENLY gay people. That's because over time, society slowly becomes more tolerant of homosexuality.

As to why gay people still exist at all, a variety of explanations exist. One is that there is a relatively rare, recessive "gay gene". To put it simply, a straight man and a straight woman might both possess this gene, but since it is recessive they are heterosexual, not gay. However, when they have a child, it will inherit the recessive gene from both parents and will be born gay. This is similar to why there are still people born with other genetic differences that would prevent reproduction, like certain diseases. (Note- I am NOT equating homosexuality with a disease, just saying the circumstances are similar).

Another explanation is that there is something in how a child is raised that makes them gay. Certain children may have a genetic propensity to be gay, but can still go either way depending on how they are raised. Something in their childhood- to give a silly example, watching too many sports programs- brings out the dormant gay potential.

It's also worth considering that being gay does not prevent someone from having children. Throughout history and to this day still, gay people hide, suppress, or ignore their sexual orientation and continue to marry people of the opposite sex.

The population in the world as a whole is increasing. A proportion of people will likley be gay I think. Interestingly enough, a male child with older brothers to the same mother (having lived with them or not), has an increased chance of being gay. There are clearly some environmental factors at play here.

This question has been asked and answered tons of times. Next time if you really want to know an answer try looking up the question before retyping it.

A) Lesbians and gay people can have children, and many do. They can also choose to adopt children.

B) There are bisexual people too. Example: Bi girl falls in love and marries straight man and they have children.

C) It's in the genes. Genes are passed down in families many different ways. Example: You have red hair, but none of your children do, yet your child's child has red hair.

D) As the world becomes more open-minded about such things less people will try to hide being GLBTQ and "come out" to the world to love who they truely love.

As the AMA says, 8-11% of all males are homosexual -- regardless of time period or culture. Research strongly supports this statement. The number of gays is not increasing, the number of people OUT is increasing. So you see them more.

Because being gay is not genetic. It's a response I believe, to life experiences. And a choice made so early in some cases, that the reasons are not remembered. (Like many traumas, the reasons can be buried by the child so deeply, that they can't be recalled). I know some people choose to be homosexual later, for instance in their teen years. There can be many reasons, but one I think is having their sexual feelings awakened by being molested by a paedophile. (Why DO we call them paedophiles? They don't love children, they USE them).
I'm sure some gays will be mad at me for saying this, but it's what I believe. Sorry guys and gals.

As long as babies continue to be born, the number of gay people will increase. If those who loath gays and lesbians so much would quit shooting out babies like a lawn sprinkler the number of gays and lesbians would eventually decrease.

The gay population has always been there. The only difference now is that our society as a whole has become more open to different lifestyles so more gays are less afraid of exposing their true identities and more likely to 'come out of the closet'.

1. Gay people are parents all the time.

2. Straight people have gay children. If you are open and accepting of gay people, you will suddenly find that there are some in your family. As long as you are openly hostile, they might not let you know.

Because everyone can be gay. It's mostly the parents who are 100% straight who get the gay children. Has nothing to do with your genes or anything. You can't pass gayness down to your family members.

We have always been around, more than likely in the same percentage. It is just not such a taboo anymore. So more people are open about it instead of marrying someone they don't really care for to make other people happy. We are now trying to make ourselves happy!
