Why the hassle... let others do the lugging...! Most people I know treat their celphone like a toy - 99 per-cent of the time. They just can't leave 'em alone. Hey - if you do desperately NEED to make a call - there's always someone around who'll let you use THEIR mobile... For much the same reason, I've never - (EVER) - bothered to allow a watch near my wrist, to cling there like a limpet, either.

Well I never make phone calls on my phone, but I do receive them. My mum rings me to find out where I am and what I'm doing... just being generally nosey. And my boyfriend rings me every night before I go to bed. It's good if you have a camera phone because there's sometimes when you just think 'That would be a great photo!' and when you're on the train or bus and your bored, you can listen to the radio or your mp3 player or play games.

If you dont need one great.
I have one so if mate wants to go out for a drink at short notice I can be there even when I'm not at home.
I dont wear a watch either but occasionally I do need to know the time, so I look at my mobile phone.

Also its got a calender/diary which is handy because Ive got a bad memory.

The other thing is if you are meeting someone and the place/time is wrong your buggered unless you've both got a phone.

They are usefull but I agree having can be a pain if someone is just telling you "IM ON THE WAY HOME"

Mobile phones cause stress! Employers expect employees to carry around mobile phones - so employees know that work could call them at any time.
Turn off your mobile phone and feel the stress disapear.

Life is also a lot less stressful when you don't know the time. Your constantly looking at the clock waiting for your next appointment, meeting, bedtime etc...

you know what - I agree with you 100% I have a mobile thats an ancient relic, has no credit on it and most of the time it's left at home. I hate it when you are having a face to face conversation with someone, then their mobile rings and completely interrupts. I know people who HAVE to have the most up-to-date phones, and have all their music on it and then the silly ring tones and songs then they play about with them....soooooooooo iritating!

it is only a gimmick, the present "must have". like each and each and every of the personal digital contraptions, it truly is a standing image. i'm positive that if some business enterprise released a small wand that glowed, replaced color and farted blue smoke, an similar dummies that purchase all the different crap doesn't be considered with out one.

I admire your rebal attitude:) and you're right, no one "needs" a cell phone, but isn't it that way with most new technologies? like TV, personal computers, even the 'net. at what point does it surpass a luxury and become a "need" or does it ever? Thanks for making me think this AM!
