South Africa play Sri Lanka in their tour at SL. Will South Africa be able to win after Graeme Smith is injured for 12 weeks ruling him out of the action in Sri Lanka.
Ashwell Prince is named the side captain (in place of Smith) .. but will he be able to captain the africans? Is that the correct decision or should S Pollock be the captain?

At this time the experience of any player comes into play.

The captain must be well experienced of the opposition's tricks and should act according to it. It will really difficult for Ashwell Prince to captain the side. It is not good to leave such an experienced player like S Pollock not to captain the side when the main captain is out. As Shaun Pollock had the experience of being a captain for a long time, it is acceptable to give the captaincy to him.

South Africa is a good team that plays well who ever the captain is. I think they will give a good resistance to lankan team. As the Lankan team is also in good form, this will be a good series for the viewers.

Hope for the best cricket in the upcomming series.

Ashwell Prince was named captain but I don't think he is experienced enough or capable of commanding respect from team.Of course Pollock was a better choice.South Africa will surely find he subcontinent difficult especially with the new found self belief in Lankans with Murali

I think it will be a very difficult job for Prince to captain the side in SL and believe that Shaub Pollock would have been a far better choice.

i think south africawill not be able to survive not not because of smith's absence but because of great form sri lanka is in
they thrashed england in their home series 5-0
but one thing is for sure that if south africaplays asthey played in their last odi against australia where they chased massive 434 then they aregoing to win
i surely agree with you that in smith absence pollock or boucher should have been made the captain not prince because pollock and boucher are far more experienced than prince

i was a bit surprised they named ashwell prince as the stand in captain, shaun pollock was the captain for the 2003 world cup but africa failed to qualify so he was stripped of the captancy i thought they would of named someone like jaques kalis or mark boucher but i think prince will do ok
