It's a firly truthful response. I mean, sure Materazzi did something he shouldn't have, but I think that's not the worst thing you can hear. Zidane, however, has nearly always been a fairly temperamental player, and he lost his temper at the wrong time. I do disagree with two things he said, however: one, about the kids; and two about what it would mean if he said he regretted it. Regarding kids, most kids who watched that match have watched and will watch enough matches to realize that sometimes the players do weird stuff, even those who one may admire, and that its really part of the game, and part of THEIR game. Those guys are under a lot of pressure, and every once in a while, something just happens and they decide to vent their pressure, anger, or frustration on the person who caused that. Moving on, I don't believe it would mean that Materazzi was right if he said he regretted his actions. It would mean that, after thinking it through, he realized that there was no need for such a rash action, and that he should've reacted differently: maybe...by winning the cup, or by a subtle foul that would have been seen simply as a little harsh. Materazzi insulted him, but he should be able to control himself at such an important, monumental, and really inspirational (for him) moment in his life: the last match of what many believe is a great career, not to mention the final of the World Cup. He should've put his national pride and the millions whose hopes rested on his shoulders above himself, his pride, or even his family.

What a really thing you should never think off. Materazzi didn't do much.

It was somethin' really bizarre. It would mean that, after thinking it through, he realized that there was no need for such a rash action, and that he should've reacted differently: maybe...by winning the cup, or by a subtle foul that would have been seen simply as a little harsh.
Materazzi should be given the fault.

Materazzi should have been Man of the Match for winning Italy the World Cup.

His answer has a sincere ring to it and gave the incident the perspective from which he saw it. He has certainly paid a price for it in the court of public opinion and his own conscience. Live and let live. Let's forgive the guy and let him move on.
