In specific, I only want the brand and the product details of any UVA / UVB & Basking lamp that I could buy in India for my Turtles.

One of them is seriously ill and in severe need of the above stated products. But I am unable to locate them in India.

Very urgent help required. Thanks in advance

30 minutes a week of natural UV is better than a weeks worth of the strongest artifical UV light. During the week day provide it with a regular 60-75 watt heat lamp and on the weekend, take it outside for basking time of 30 minutes. That is a the most effective way.

If your turtle is sick, you need to increase the basking temp by bringing the lamp closer. The increased temps will help the immune system. If you have more than one turtle, make sure you seperate it from the others.

BTW, a turtle will not get sick from a lack of UV lighting. UVB stimulates the formation of vitamin D3 and helps with the absorption of calcium. All pellets will contains vitamin D3 and calcium. In fact, it is not proven that artifical UVB rays will help water turtles generate vitamin D3. The best is still through food choices (i.e. pellets). Feeding it live prey and proteins, lacks the necessary nutrients (Vit D3 and Ca).

Nothing beats the sun! If you can build an outdoor wire-top cage you won't need any lamps!
However for your inside animals I would suggest Reptisun 5.0 or 10.0s.
I don't know if they are available in India or not.

There is also a Yahoo group - UVB meter owners group that has the best latest info on proper reptile lighting. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/UVB_Meter_Owners/
I recommend you join it if you are serious.

Edit: feeding food with vitD & calcium may or may NOT be enough to help your turtle. This is a VERY controversial idea. However sunlight is known POSITIVELY to help & also supplies heat & psycological benefits. What do most wild turtles do? They gather on rocks or logs or river banks to bask in the sunlight!!!

From what I could find, I would guess that your turtle could benfit most from a UV-A lamp. Additionally, it is suggested that your turtles get some natural, outdoor sunlight. If you have an outdoor habitat/pool, then try to give them as much time as possible, especially your ill one. Two-Three hours is suggested.

As far as where you could go in India, I'm afraid I have little info that you no doubt already have. If it is difficult, then your best option would be to look online.

Hope your turtle recovers.

the respond right this is rather straightforward uvb bulbs provide out a broader spectrum of light which includes the spectrum of light which widely used daylight hours falls in, yet seem on the %. or in the information it relatively is published on the cyber web web site you're procuring from. certainly any bulb which includes the organic daylight hours spectrum will income your turtles. no longer all bulbs do via fact the are there to furnish lighting fixtures for you and not for the reptile.

Try ordering online. Reptisun makes a UV for tropical species, this should work. If they are tortises, then get the desert UV. Reptisun products are available online from several distributors.
