i had pre clampsia with my first child and he was born at 34 weeks,just wondering if anyone knows how early this can occur

pre ecclampsia associated with sudden shooting up of blood pressure only in pregnancy begins from 20 weeks of pregnancy.in your case you will definitely have a higher risk of developing preecclampsia due to your past history.so keep a strict watch out for blood pressure, weight and prescence of aspecial protein i.e. albumin in urine from 20 weeks of pregnancy onwards.

I think severe cases can begin showing up at 5 or 6 months. I had it with my oldest daughter, was induced at 36 weeks.

it normally can begin at 20 weeks, but gets more likely as the pregnancy progresses. in very rare cases, it can begin before 20 weeks. as long as you're going to your OB regularly for blood pressure checks and urine samples, you shouldn't worry.
