First, let this "so called friend" go. You don't need her in your life. Be sincere...and let her/him know how astonished you were of her actions. She/him was someone you cared for and could never have imagined they could be so cruel. Leave it at that and refuse to get into any kind of bitchy argument. Step away with your head high and don't look back
You can defeat this drawback by holding your head high and walking proud. Do not go around moping...that will only give the situation fuel and invite the cruel ones to indulge.
If anyone confront you simply state that it is a lie. Don't try to elaborate. Resist temptations to dwell and explain yourself. Your attitude will be that you refuse to give this nonsense your time.
When others see that you are too proud to let this bother you, they will leave you alone and begin to respect the dignity in which you have handled the situation. To those who really care you can explained how you were betrayed by someone you trusted as your friend.
You don't want to go around looking angry or hurt...be self assured.
I know this may seem difficult, but if you adopt this formula, not only will you overcome this "semi crisis", you will also become a stronger, better person with poise and class.

kids can be cruel. talk to school counselor or minister. talk to someone close. classmates hear rumors all the time. it is just you are the subject now. relax.
