those who believed it would perhaps wonder or have a problem - or feel they had been right all along if they had thought it before. for those there may be a life altering change or a confirmation of what they felt they knew all along.
those who did not believe it would continue on as before, as their faith would not have been shaken by the rumor enough to change anything, and that is what they would feel - that it was a rumor or story made up by someone to discredit their religion.
the religions would not fall, as enough would turn their backs on the meteor theory - and that is all it would be - a theory - as too much time has passed to prove or disprove the beginning of life on earth regardless of how it really happened.
And regardless of what was found or not found, life would continue, people of differing beliefs and who want others to hear their opinions would still be at odds only there would be a slightly different spin on the subject of origins. Others would say it makes no difference to them either way and would continue to get along with others regardless of their religious differences.
In other words, no big change expected in the overall scheme of things.

The past does not change the present. We are here now that's all that matters. Nothing falls (religions) nothing changes. I would feel no different. Even if life began with "The Big Bang". there had to be an intelligence to create the meteor and the cosmos in general to begin with. So ultimately there must be a God.

Maybe it'd cause this world to wake up and make us all realise that we were stupid all these years? ;)
