Animals need protection, for they can not protect themselves from certain actions and from distinction. But where is the line drawn at. Humans are they more valuable than a animal?Just your opinion for I love animals, have pets, and respect mother nature.I just trying to ask a question ,think of a question and was wondering what the response would be.

I heard of an incident once where in the same court a woman was sentenced to three months imprisonment for throwing her newborn in the trash (it died) and a man was put in jail for six years for killing his neighbor's three cats. People have lost priority. Killing pets is not something I condone, but killing babies is far worse! I love animals and have pets, and I would be furious if anyone did anything to them, but hurting a human being is a far worse offense. Human life is sacred. Pets, as much as we love them, are just not as important.

Other than crimes against a small child or a baby, yes, I think it's worse to abuse an animal. Animal cannot protect themselves against humans...I'm talking about dogs, cats, etc. I think that someone who would harm a defenseless animal is the lowest form of life...as is someone who would harm a child or baby. I wouldn't say that animals are or are not more valuable than humans, but humans can defend themselves. Animals depend on humans for their needs...food, water and shelter. All they want in return is love.

Humans could not exist without animals we depend on each other a human life is more valuable but i have seen some crimes against animals that have made me cry and i do believe that animal abuse should have a stiffer punishment if you think about it if a person can beat a kill a animal with no remorse what stops them from beating and killing another person?

My answer is no. I am saddened and disturbed as I hear about more cases of animal cruelty. Some examples: A man put his girlfriend's Rottweiler pup in the microwave and turned it on to get back at his girlfriend, another stomped a puppy to death to get revenge on another person. In my town a man threw a puppy so hard against a wall that it shattered his back and he had to be euthanized.
Are these people walking around free today? I would surely hope not!! Vicious crimes deserve severe punishment whether human or animal.

I do think crime against animals are more harsh then human beings. Its not a question that beating a child and animal is same, question is any sort of cruelty...
As cows slaughter is banned in India, the greedy people stuff the trucks with cows like gunny bags alive and cover the whole truck with cloth,so that cops do not get to know that cows are getting transfered.Infact I beleive cops are also bribed for this crime.
Please refer to web sites like petaindia.org then you will get to know what are the crimes going on against animals.I have herd that some fashion houses also use fur in europe ,which I beleive is also a cruelty towards animals.
One more reason ....If someone beat a child, he/she knows whats going on but poor animal do not know whats his mistake and why he/she is illtreated .My heart cries for these animals whenever I hear some news like this.Animals are not be abused.
Afterall everyone has the right to live.

I believe all life is equally valuable and all crimes against life should be punished accordingly...I think they should introduce a companion animal/child act that improves the protection for both and holds parents/caretakers/guardians responsible for thier children and pets and makes them responsible to pay for the care, and needs of both children and pets if they put them up for adoption until they get adopted and introduces harsher punishment for all crimes relating to child/animal abuse. For us to say human life is more valuable is egotistical and shows a complete lack of morals. All life is created equal.

Yes they are harsher... My reason for this is the fact that your pets trust you to take care of them... They trust us humans to provide love for them... They don't deserve to be treated the way most people have been treating them lately... I think that punishment for abusing animals should be about the same for another human...or in some cases, a hell of a lot more... Animals don't mean to do wrong normally... But when they do, some people take it to far...

Yes, animals in some cases are more highly prized than human beings.
In most states in the US, it is against the law to shoot a cat or dog, but you can bust a chickens neck by hand and eat it. You can kill mice and rats in spring traps, but you cant starve a bird in a cage. You can spray flies and roaches with Raid, but you can't kill your own fish with Raid. I'm sure, it's probably legal to stomp an ant, but it's probably a felony to grab an ant and take one of it's legs off, in some state.
welcome to our weird society where idiots run the show!
Give society another 40 years, and we'll be concerned about humane treatment of plants. Actually, I figure, in 10 years houseplants will have special protection!

Crimes against animals is prevalent because the scumbags who commit them are cowards and gutless.
It is so easy to commit a crime against an animal because a) they can't report it, b) it is so easy for people to get animals and there is no trace on them, c) also people don't miss them

abuse against animals is a VERY early warning sign of potential crimes against humans in the future.
if you look at any serial killer today...he/she started out by abusing or torturing animals!
the connection between animal abuse and child/spousal abuse CANNOT be ignored.
these warning signs of potentially rising anger in any one person should be taken very seriously!!!!!
here is a site about it.
