If parts of uterus were shedded every month, in a few years the body would have a big gaping hole, like the one we saw when pentagon was bombed on 9/11.

An egg that is produced every 28 days in the women uterus, and if the egg is not fertilised by sprem then it is automaticcaly ejected in form of menses.

Its this unused egg that is discharged.
