Make it so that part of your paycheck gets direct deposited into a savings account, CD, or bond. That way you don't even notice that it gets put away and then you have less in your regular account. If you put in into something that will mature over time it will make it so you are less likely to take the money out without penalties.

To change you life, change your mind.

Keep it simple. You're smarter than you think.

Do you really need soft drinks in your life?
Must you super size everything?
Must you buy a snack every time you fill up?
Must you eat out as often as you do?
Could you drive more efficiently?

I used to spend $50 or more every week just for eating out. Honest. Now, I hardly ever do. Guess what. I have saved $$thousands every year.

When you go out to eat, drink WATER. You'll save a buck or two every time.

I used to spend $$$ on cokes, pepsis, snacks. Now I don't. Honest. I drink coffee and water most of the time (and I am cool with that). I save $$ hundreds every year.

I used to buy CD after CD ($15 - $20+ each). Ten of them cost as much as a weekend get away flight, lodging, and meal package. Go figure.

I never go into the convenience store when I buy my gasoline. So, I never spend $$$ on snacks. I make my own snacks and keep some in the car.

TV bores me. I stopped buying cable. I didn't watch all that stuff anyway. That's $$$ every month. Get it?

Look! Don't make radical changes that you're not likely to stick with very long. Make small changes, and modify as you go so that it becomes a part of your lifestyle.

I travel to Asia twice every year. I stay all of June and July, and I go again in December. Guess how I save the money to do it.

Incidentally, I have a nice computer, a nice house, my own workout equipment in my own garage. I eat well, sleep well, and live well.

You can do it, but you have to change your mind.

Just picture that you are going to be in very, very seious trouble after two years, where you are going to need every bit of you money. Everytime you picture this when you think of buying somethink, the desire will automatically go away.

Give it to someone you trust and tell them not to give it back to you until after a set period of time.
