It's been out of control, and while I don't mind paying a little bit more, I personally have been driven to the brink of bankruptcy because I have no more money to pay any of my bills with. I now have a choice between eating and getting to and from work.
Our government doesn't give a ****. If they did, they'd repeal the 38.9 cent tax on every gallon of gas... **** that's a start.
As long as big oil contributes to thier campaigns and funds the high powered and influencial lobbyists, no one stands a chance of getting any cheaper gas.

Yes and Yes. But the Bush's do not own the majority of oil in Texas. The oil companies are good at subterfuge I think and that is why the investigations done so far haven't found any evidence of price gouging. Don/t get me wrong I feel we are being ripped off big time but a lot of it has to do with ths stock market. The price you hear about everyday is oil futures or speculation really they say oil will go up in the future and prices at the goes up but the oil they used to make the gas they are selling today at inflated prices was bought in the past at lower prices of last month or longer. So I think they are raising prices inresponse to the futures market and then when oil prices drop they don't lower the price of gas the same amount.t that is my understanding of it. It's like the bakery selling you a loaf of bread for $10.00 because the weather forecast in Kansas is for less rain next week and the baker saying the lack of it might hurt the wheat crop and raise prices next month. Doesn't sound fair to me.

Gas prices are insanely out of control, but it's no better in other countries so I don't think we can lay the entire problem at Bush's feet (though I'd love to!). It's all greed... record profits by the oil companies every year while they also say they have to keep it high and if you don't like the prices, stop driving. Sarcasm from big business, there's a surprise.

There was an investigation in late 2005 by the Federal Trade Commission. But that was mainly directed at Katrina, and they found no issues.
Congress asked again in April 2006 for an investigation. Pres Bush complied. "Bush also has ordered a federal investigation into possible cheating, price gouging or illegal manipulation in the gasoline markets. "
Haven't heard any outcome from that yet.

Believe me, the us govt is involved. Prices are up for a reason, Bush knows why, so does most of our govt officials. You are probably too young, but in the '70's when problems occured, there were mile long lines waiting for 4 or 5 gallons of gas, that aint happening now. Keep thinking Bush is messing up, he doesn't care, things could be much worse.

Your kidding me right? Bush and Cheney are oil guys so continue to expect high gas prices.
Ever notice that whenever the oil guys get into office (George H.W. Bush, Slick Dick Cheney, George W. Bush) that gas prices go up and we somehow find ourselves at war with an oil rich country. I'm sure its all a coincidence.

of course it isn't sturdy for us now to not have self belief our authorities yet which have self belief might want to be an open-eyed have self belief. it isn't because it were that when we vote a authorities to power we may be able to ignore about governance fill the subsequent elections come round. it is been properly said that elections are a 5 year selection to civil warfare. So if the engagement is to go back after 5 years is it no longer our duty to save our fingers in tact.we are no longer spoiling for a civlil warfare yet in basic terms suggesting the authorities that all of us comprehend what's occurring and we don't like it.Had someone from between us no longer uncovered the fraud contained in the Tonkein Bay, Nixon's machinations and extra lately Bush's tricks we may have by now backslided by 0.5 a century.so as they say count number on your buddy and genuinely your authorities yet save the powder dry and the gun to hand. This realisation itself will save the authorities on to the straight away and slender course laid down by the mandate.

The government claims to be involved already doesn't it? So perhaps we'd be better off if they chose to stay out of it and perhaps someone intelligent would decide to stepup for a change, of course we can be doing things as well (such as DRIVING LESS) but prices are expected to rise and there's little to be done about that until we find a) more oil or b) an effective alernative,

It's all corporate and government whitewash. It has to do with greed and power and who controls who. If you are the average working American you are going to suffer as usual. If you are wealthy you aren't going to care. That is why they make SUVs. It seems to me that at the same time we are supposedly helping Iraq, we aren't doing so well in helping our own country. Bush is just trying to finish a fight his father couldn't when he was in office.
