How about instead, using their intelligence for philanthropic purposes instead of boasting about it and being condescending jerks? Mental poverty is nothing compared to moral poverty.

aunt, good point. Actually what inspired me to write this was from having to deal with a "know-it-all" classmate. You know the type. He acts so condescending towards everyone, including myself, when I'm certain I know about 90% of the facts he knows. The worse kind of egomaniac is one who isn't all that great to begin with.

A hostile attitude, my dear! Have you been feeling condescended to?

The reason geniuses (I will ignore your "self-proclaimed" limitation) do not necessarily use their genius for philanthropy is that they do not necessarily use it for making enough money to make philanthropy plausible. In order to make a lot of money out of being smart, you generally end up in some situation where you are "out-smarting" other people; that is, taking unfair advantage, taking them for suckers, being a con-man, etc. Most truly intelligent people realize that making money while making enemies is not a worthwhile bargain.

And as to mental poverty vs. moral poverty, I agree with you that morals are ultimately more important. But do you see now, from what I have said, that you cannot equate moral value with philanthropy? Many generous people are giving money away that they made dishonestly, if not actually illegally. Many more are doing it mostly for the tax break. But morally, the person who is above the dishonest business practices that might make him wealthy is superior, even if he does not give a lot of money away.

Then too, there is the fact that philanthropy does not always mean helping people. Sometimes it means giving them the impression they can just put out their hand and have a free ride, instead of learning to be self-sufficient. It depends much on the circumstances. A wise philanthropist chooses very carefully where he will put his money, so that it can have the most long-term beneficial effect.

i have considered a number of his solutions or maybe as maximum of them are crude and tasteless, a number of them were notably humorous. The crude, tasteless ones ought to anger or disenchanted me, i think, yet i recognize he's a troll, so I take each and every thing he sorts with a grain of salt. I surely ought to provide him props although--he extremely is a great troll (how's that for an oxymoron? (giggle)). He comes up with some notably inventive stuff. i'm getting drained of the "14 and preggerzzzz" questions. a minimum of he throws some kind into the blend. i'd propose ignoring him thoroughly. do not supply him a thumbs down, do not record him, do not upload information on your question and cuss at him. he's a lifeless ringer for a 5 12 months previous toddler--he will do something for interest (even if this is solid or undesirable interest, he's yearning interest). in simple terms bypass his solutions and flow on to envision the subsequent one. i'd particularly put up inclusive of his solutions than those from that "gothic female" or inspite of her call is. fortunately she's been lengthy gone a lengthy time period, and with slightly of success issues will stay that way. She's the completely professional-abortion female (and that i stress "female" because she's admitted that she hasn't ever had an abortion, yet she's in simple terms an primary walking encyclopedia on the problem). She always delivers information to her solutions flaming those who disagree with her solutions. what's quite humorous is that I checked her profile and he or she had requested some questions about taking section in the Legend of Zelda on her computer; what's the superb espresso maker you are able to purchase; and (the superb yet) what's common techniques to remove cellulite on your thighs. I pointed that out to her and interior of minutes her Q&As were inner most. :) see you later as she says lengthy gone, buried lower than her rock, i am going to take 10 Mr. Awesomes ANY day.

I have to disagree.
Mental poverty is just as bad as moral poverty. You can't help those who don't want to help themselves. People can't help themselves if they don't put the will and work to learning and understand things.
