There is no real answer to this question but what I have learned of what love is to me and that is the word LOVE itself holds the answer.......

(L)isten: and validate them by hearing and empathizing.
(O)verlook: their minor character flaws as they will overlook yours.
(V)alue: who they are and what they mean to you.
(E)xpress: how you love them not just with words but with actions.

Love needs commitment, Effection is just care..
You love someone for a reason, but effection is itself a reason..
Love needs responding! while effection is just giving..
Love makes a lover! But effection gets u a friend

My definition of love is:
A deep caring AND respect for a person, place, or thing.

Affection is the physical expression of that love.

for me, love is what you feel inside your heart but affection is just like a crush that you don't know when it last...maybe?
