She definitely needs to get to the Doctor for an exam!!!!
While it is almost certain that she is not pregnant, she could have what's called an EPOTIC pregnancy, which is when an egg is fertilized, and instead of implanting itself in the uterus, it grows in the fallopian tube. The tube will burst as the embryo grows, and can be horribly painful and dangerous!!!
I don't mean to scare you, and I'm sure you G/F is probably just having a hormone imbalance or something, but please get her checked out, just in case!!

I had my tubes tied 4 years ago and have been irregular ever since. I never know when I am going to have my period or if I am going to have it.
Having your tubes tied is supposed to be 99.9% effective. And the .1% chance you have of getting pregnant would be a tubal pregnancy anyways.
I wouldn't worry. But if she is worried don't be afraid to call the doctor just to make sure there is nothing wrong.

Well, I'm glad Ron is not my nurse because he is dead WRONG. It is not impossible for a tubal ligation to fail. I just talked to my OB today about getting my tubes tied when I have my c-section in Dec. There is less than a 1% chance, BUT if it were to fail and a woman did get pregnant there is a 16-50% chance of a tubal pregnancy. Home tests do not always pick up a tubal pregnancy right away because it takes longer for the HCG levels to rise. She would be better off by going to the doctor. If she is in her mid to late 30's or in her 40's she could be in the beginning stages of menopause.

It can happen. A friend of mine had her tubes tied and about 5 years later she got pregnant. I think when you get your tubes tied they even tell you that this is possible, that it is only "good" for so long as the body can try to heal itself. I think it is rare, but it does happen.
Incidently, she went on to have a normal pregnancy and gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Not ectopic!!!

I have a close friend that is a result of the procedure failing. His mothers tubes grew back together and he was born eight years after having her tubes tied.

I have been in the same position. I had my tubes tied in Feb. of 2000. In Dec. of 20002, found out i was once again preg.. It was a very big surprise. The odds of getting preg.. after a tubal are very low, my doctor told me about 1 in1000. The missed period could be stress, but don't rule out another baby. I had a very safe preg. and delivered healthy twin boys.

Pretty slim. It may be that she's having irregular periods because of oncoming menopause. It can start in your early 30s.
