Certain people, myself included, have a hard time expressing themselves orally because we freak out and stutter. Spoken language is improvised and not all of us have the gift of eloquent improvisation. I can express myself very thoughtfully and articulately in written language, because when I write, I can think things through before I say anything and even make edits!

I enjoy having deep conversations, but I’ve been restricted to only feeling comfortable having intellectual conversations with people I know. Whenever I try that with strangers and acquaintances, I intimidate them and then they judge me for being too “nerdy” and they don't understand what I’m talking about. What the hell do people want?

GD, other than your misjudgement of me, I do agree with you. People too often times (like pompous professors) condense many words into little thoughts. A person can be uneducated but intelligent, or vice-versa.

"An average English word is four letters and a half. By hard, honest labor I've dug all the large words out of my vocabulary and shaved it down till the average is three and a half. . . . I never write 'metropolis' for seven cents, because I can get the same money for 'city.' I never write 'policeman,' because I can get the same price for 'cop.' . . . I never write 'valetudinarian' at all, for not even hunger and wretchedness can humble me to the point where I will do a word like that for seven cents; I wouldn't do it for fifteen." --Mark Twain

^^I use this approach when talking, the problem is I have a hard time switching back-and-forth^^

People just don't want to feel or look stupid. Be proud of your intelligence. If everyone acted teh way stupid people want them too, we wouldn't have advance technology.

Be proud. Stand tall. Be yourself.

Oh, I feel so bad for you. Poor intelligent you. I have an IQ of 152 and scored in the 99th percentile nationwide on the LSAT, and yet somehow I don't have this problem.

Also, I have read all of the great philosophies of the world, including many religious texts and my vocabulary is limitless.

Somehow I still don't have this problem.

You are probably making a big show of your so-called intelligence and the very fact that you ask this question shows that the issue is on your mind and inevitably that comes through in little undertones in your conversations, which probably puts people off.

Also, if people don't know what you are talking about it is probably because you are talking nonsense.

Even very nuanced concepts can often be articulated in ways that make them accessible to less well educated people.

And again, much of what so-called intelligent people think of as intelligent conversations is just a lot of ivory tower nonsense.

When I was in college I would her people sitting around discussing J.R. Tolkien, Jerry Bruckheimer movies, poetic forms, the decline of modern society blah blah blah blah

WHat a bunch of ****.

Even the greatest philosophers were concerned with questions that pertained fundamentally to the real human experience.

Patrick Henry was the greatest orator in the colonies and he admittedly never read much of anything at all. He did say however that he read men.

He said true things with unction, and not stupid **** with lots of verbage.

Sounds like you are the more intelligent one. People get jealous especially if they thought they were intelligent and then met an intelligent person after all. I've had a problem at the business a little similar to this. Certain educated men, because of the job I do, and I dress ordinary. think that I'm not knowledgeable but guess who looks really stupid when I'm done with them? Those are the people I sell the most products and not only that but they return many times in the future to buy again.

it somewhat is genius! i'd ought to bypass with #2 (sensible people like sensible music). i do not study #one million, because i do not see it take position frequently. i'm able to't see someone with minimum intelligence listening to sensible music because the lyrics may in basic terms bypass over their heads. i love sensible lyrics, even if the lyrics do not inevitably should be wide wide awake. i'm getting drained of listening to an similar lyrical content fabric over and throughout lower back, inspite of what it really is. i'm inspired with any emcee who contributes something new to the game. as an instance, Necro's music, useless body Disposal. i'm not a huge fan of this guy, yet I by no skill heard everyone bypass into element about a thanks to remove a useless body. that is thrilling to take heed to, and also you by no skill recognize once you may favor this style of information. i'd like to get a ok.O.S. lesson from each music, yet there is purely a lot that ought to correctly be suggested, and that i have received more suitable expertise on the concern by skill of studying and expertise myself than I have from any music. that ought to get boring too. And with the increasing quantity of people with upload, i'm shocked that the final public of people favor listening to the common commercial hits lately, because the rappers are not preserving a lot. i'm assuming they in basic terms hear to it for the beats, which at the prompt are not very sturdy both. i imagine people ought to really teach themselves outdoors of music, or maybe college. Going to varsity would not make you sensible, and neither does this style of music you hear to. i imagine maximum rappers do not favor to be labeled as wide wide awake because that is linked with being emotional and tender and that would not bode properly for a rapper's image. i imagine rappers also do not favor to be labeled as a creative rapper, because in the experience that they don't commence a revolution, their words are valueless.

Just be yourself, but if you are surrounding yourself with not so smart people, just don't use words you know that NO ONE understands normally.
