Griffey was caught in a numbers game. Soriano is having a good year for Washington, I guess he deserves to start. Jason Bay has cooled off the last month or so, and Pittsburgh fans may have been stuffing the ballot box. Griffey for the first time in a long while has been healthy. I would have rather seen him--or Nomar Garciaparra--with two outs in the ninth inning with Beltran on second, going against Mariano Rivera,--they would have known how to hit against him--instead of Carlos Lee, who popped up meekly to end the game.

He didn't necessarily deserve to start, but with 19 HR and 51 RBI, he could have been there... the .251 average doesn't mean anything because what should be focused on isn't hits, it's runs... so he's doing just fine. Fifty one RBI, considering the time he's missed, is pretty good...
He finished 4th amount NL outfielders in the fan voting, a half million votes ahead of 5th place Andruw Jones.
One thing I learned a long time ago is "don't worry about who's int he All Star Game and who isn't"... Who should start depends on whether you think the game is for the players or the fans... some people want so-and-so to start just because he had a good first half, even though it's been established that he's NOT an all-star player, and when it comes to perennial all stars who start off slow, some fans think THEY don't deserve to be there..
No matter what team anyone puts out there, it's always possible to find a team that's probably better... there really is no such thing as the 'best' possible all star team...especially since (1) roster size is limited and (2) every team must be represented.
I'm not positive about this, but I think that Bronson Arroyo was the only Red to make the team this year.
Junior has done very well in all star games... he's 10 for 23 in his career, a .435 average, with a .652 slugging pct, scoring 4 runs and driving in 5... He apparently likes that stage.... and unlike a lot of superstar, future hall of famers, he likes being there...

First off, i will say that the reds are my team and i will stick with them till the end. I think jr. did not make the team because his is getting older, slower, and there are a lot of new young talents that deserve to be in the game also.

He dropped to like 4 or 5 in the balloting and Garner didn't put him on. Pirate fans made a late push for Bay and Mets fans pushed Beltran ahead of him.

They're just trying to keep the man down, it has nothing to do with the 25 games he's missed or his .251 batting average which ranks 35th in the NL among full time outfielders..His OB% ranks about the same, and he's 9th in SLG%...Yep he was robbed...LOL...I hope you were kidding...

Because he didn't get really hot until later in the first half. Plus he is in a small market and fans are homers.
