I don't think rap/hip-hop will ever die--it's got almost 40 years under it's belt and has more strength than any other genre of music in the world. However, I can't say I like it, right now. There's too much ignorance, not only from the artists and the labels, but most of all, the fans who support it. Artists need to be more aware of the material they put out. Record labels need to be aware of who they give their attention to: anybody can flow about guns, sex, and drugs, but where is the talent and the skills? Labels also need to stop having artists dumb-down their creativity for the mainstream audience. All that needs to change, otherwise, you're going to have these conservative white people--with their one-sided views and don't give a damn about you, right or wrong--leave us no choice, but to listen to country and fit in with the redneck culture. YUCK!

rap is not yet dead. It's still alive. These days many listen to rock thats why there are less people listening to rap. U just have to choose whts good and wht's bad in the rap game. I'm proud to say that i'm a hardcore rap fan. But I do hate eminem. He just messed up the whole rap game.

Rap does far more than "show-off", dear. Rap's gotten sinister, loaded with the following favorite song topics and pro-praises:
Murder, rape, physical AND/OR emotional abuse towards women and children, dropping out of school, SELF-HATRED (where they pepper the "N"-word quite heavily ), REVERSE racism, crack/meth use and / or sales, violent defiance against police, depressive/dangerous ghetto life, pre-destined for prison life ( a 'career' of prison life )...oh....and...almost forgot: the POSITIVIE things of prison life (as if there are any).
Party's over for Rap: U.S. "mainstream" music audiences (the core demographic of music sales success) are jaded by all this negative Rap messaging. Rap sales are dwindling, kept alive by a small core of dedicated listeners...which inculdes some recent prison arrivals, starting their 30 flat years time in the pen because they stupidly lived out what they heard on rap CD's.
Even the Rap CD packaging looks cheezy-cheap now. Why would the Grammys want to embarrass their elite award by keeping a Rap award cataegory????
Count me in: I've long been tired of rap---and welcome it's death alongside 70s "disco" (which sounds better than rap).

I dont think its dead ( in the bay area ). Well here in the bay area we dont rap about being rich , spending nights with girls etc etc. we rap about dancing and having fun and just going all out its really different out here in the bay. This is all underground music though. Mainstream rap/hip-hop i think its DEAD. To me it seems like most rappers can only rap about materialism. REAL TALK.
