I remember having sharp pains down my legs. I was told it's because the weight of the baby sits on some of the nerves, etc. that travel down the leg.
Is this your first baby? Congrats! It's sooooooooo wonderful being a mommy. My oldest is 11 now and my dtr is going to be 8 next month. Wow, seems like just yesterday.
good luck and enjoy every moment. it's such a gift.

HAHA! The typical pregancy leg pains! Been there done that x3! What you need to do is sleep with pillows at the foot of your bed to keep your legs slightly bent. Also the doctors told me to eat bananas. It is calcium?(can't remember the name, that's why the ? next to it) deposits in your legs that causes the cramping. So I've heard from doctors anyway. Any how the pain is a direct result of the baby being on your spinal colum cutting of the blood flow during your sleep. I got them all the time!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah it hurts, but the best way to get rid of them is to get up and walk it off quickly, despite the shooting pain. Walking them off gets the pain away quicker. Unfortuantely this is something you will be dealing with until you deliver your baby.

you'll have to describe the pain in more detail to get a better answer -- it could be a charley horse, pinched nerve, reduced circulation, or sciatica. personally, i vote for sciatica -- i had it from 5 mos on with both pregnancies. your uterus lies on your sciatic nerve and irritates it, and that nerve shoots pain from your tailbone and down your leg. the best way to fix that in the morning: when you wake up, carefully roll yourself onto your side (the OPPOSITE side from the side you woke up on!).... this will move your uterus off of any nerve it may have been irritating. just wait a few minutes, and when you try to get up it should be less painful. if you do discover it's sciatica, there are some great exercises you can do that will help a lot..... search online.

It is probably due to the way you are sleeping. Are you by chance sleeping on your back? The baby's weight is now such that it can compress your nerves in your back. Try sleeping on your side with a pillow between your legs. Put a pillow underneath one side of your back if you must sleep on your back. I had the same problem when I was pregnant with my first.

yes and im like 81/2mo preggo. I'm assuming they're charlie horses. I even get them in the middle of night. Hormones can affect muscles(and everyhting else:) but if you're over 35 you might want to mention this to ur ob because it could be due to a circulatory prob.

It could just be the leg cramps from the extra fluid, but tell your doctor just incase it's a blood clot.

Are they shooting pains? They could be from the weight you are carrying. One of your nerves might be pinched in your lower back and that will cause shooting pains to the legs.

This is from the weight of the baby and that the baby is lower now. You can get a belly maternity support belt . I know Penney's has them It will help support the baby relieving the pressure on your legs. I will find it and post a link to show you what it looks like.
