In many object oriented programming languages "this" is used to identify an instance of an object.

e.g.

class a{
int b;
public void setB(int b)
{
this.b = b
// in this case this.b identifies class variable b and b identifies the parameter being passed to the function
}
}

I hope this is the "this" you wanted to know about.
