How do I convince a managing director that I can double his turnover from 200k to 400k and what time scale should I be suggesting I can do this in? Also what sort of salary package should I be asking for?
I met this guy through another job and he thinks I am suitable but he is not the boss and there has never been a job advertised!
I am passionate about this opportunity and need some help from you guys.To sum up it would be a job selling upmarket items to hotels, restaurants and clubs. It is already established but there are two choices either me or an agency.Any help, ideas, tactics would be appreciated.

Quite honestly, the proof is in the pudding. If you've done this elsewhere, then you might just do it here. So a solid track record of super sales will show that you've done it before and are capable of doing it again.

Of course, there's no guarantee that you'll succeed, but the odds are more in your favor.

My suggestion is to tell him what you've done before and how you accomplished it. Then say how you think you could double his turnover. And show him why you'll do a better job than any agency. What is it that you'll do or can do that will be better than an agency?

Is it that you have more contacts then they would? Would your approach different and more effective? Do you have more experience? Would you make them more of a priority than the agency? Would you stick around longer? Will you save them money and grow their business at the same time?

These are the kinds of things you need to illustrate. You need to show how YOU and not the agency is the better choice.

Your first job will be to sell yourself. Project confidence and present a marketing plan at your interview. One way to project confidence is to ask for an income in a high range and if you can offer to start out on straightcommission it may help get their attention. Do your homework and find out as much as you can about the company and their products so you can speak confidently about everything.

Be prepared!!! Go to this director armed with visual aids!!!!
Make a business plan with ideas and directives and go through these with him. IF you have previous experience - show him what you managed and get recommendations from previous employers.
Basically you need to sell yourself!
Good luck
