There are two possible answers:
1. Firewall, as noted.
2. Your ip config has changed. If you are pinging computers by "name" rather than IP adress, then your computer might be on the network but have a different IP adress than the one on the DNS server. If you are not pinging by IP adress, confirm yours and have someone try to ping that.
If you don't know how to look it up:
{Start} > All Program > Accessories > Run Prompt
Type "ipconfig" Your adress is the first one.
If you can be pinged by this IP adress, you may need to have your admin update the DNS server with your computer's new IP. This reset may have happened if your PC was somehow disconnected from your workgroup/domain.

What? Just to clarify, You can ping a other computer on the network, but that computer can't ping you? I would have to say, unless you have some firewall, or the ports are blocked, that the other person who is pinging you, is not pinging correctly.. Verify that the IP address is correct, and that they are entering the command correctly.

when you go to sites or even load your operating system there are 1 to 15 computers that your computer pings to get hoked to the internet and more if you visit sites you shoould not! and they sometimes accept the pings from your computer for recording your behavor in sites.

The other computer fire wall is blocking the ping from that computer.

if u are using win98 with antivirus installed then look for the settings in the antivirus program to block network,
if using winxp then turn off the firewall and try if it works then turn on the fiewall and in the exceptions tab check mark file and print sharing.
