this is a fool proof plan my father did this to me when i was young. first learn to do a hand stand okay. then you do a hand stand at the top of the steps in your house and once they are set just push them over if they don't want to get hurt they will learn real fast. DID you ever think that she might like round offs better then cartwheels.

1. trace her hands on the ground with chalk inside a rectangle ...the way they should be positioned when executing a cartwheel- estimate the right distance of both hands from each other.
2. write one in the first hand, two in the second hand
3. trace her feet on one side of the rectangle...one foot is facing to the right- the other is pointed to the direction she will do her cartwheel to (again: write one on inside the foot that's facing to the right...and 2 in the one pointing to the direction where she will go )
4. trace her feet on the other side of the rectangle- 1 landing first ...and then 2 behind it.
tell her to make it a habit to stretch her arms together upwards- without pulling her shoulders up, but stretching her upper body as well (this is to prepare her body for the cartwheel, which is done in a fast and energetic fashion)
Encourage her verbally ..don't forget to tell her that the straight legs and pointy feet are what makes a cartwheel a perfect cartwheel.

This is how it was taught to me.
1. Step with your left foot.
2. Place your left hand in front of your left foot.
3. Place your right hand next to your left.
and last but not least, the key that made a spark snap in me brain (or was it doing a thousand cartwheel attempts?)
4. Try to touch your right foot to your right hand.

Good luck!
