Don't have activities where students are "out" for a period of a game, or not active while waiting their turn. This includes a lot of popular games, like kickball games, duck duck goose games, and relays. The most successful I've seen are variation tag games where everyone is almost always moving, and there are quick ways to get back in the game.
A game I've used successfully is called Pirates and Sharks. Designate areas to be used as boats (I've used cones, hula hoops, or mats). Have one or two sharks in the center (with jerseys). When you yell out "Pirates swim!" the kids on the boats must run to another boat without getting tagged by the shark. If they are, they must stand there with their arms out until another pirate runs under their arm, and they then have safe passage to a boat. Once everyone has stopped, yell out "pirates swim!" again. Change up the sharks every so often so everyone has a chance. No one stays still for longer than one turn.

they love to run so let them play dodge ball with one of those nerf or soft balls. girls against the boys or put four hoola hoops in the corners of a square make sure its big enough. put 8 balls in the center of the square pick 4 teams of four and put each team by the hoops then pick one player from each team to run and put a ball in their hoop then let another run to put a ball in their hoop but the object of the game is to kee all your balls in your hoop so you have to make sure the other team soesnt steal balls from your hoop to but in theirs give them 10 minute runs and at the end the team with the most balls in their hoop wins. then switch up the teams so all the kids have a chance to play this game can be modified according to the amount of kids you have at the time...
