What you search for is saved in what's called "forms." I hate it too!
How you remove it depends on the version of Firefox, but generally Tools ==> Options ==> Privacy ==> Clear Forms
With the newest version, under Tools there is a choice called "Clear Private Data" that clears all your browsing history and forms for you.
