Lots depends on hardness of your water and what you are washing. I have found that a small scoop of 20 Mule Team Boraxo (inexpensive boxed powder laundry booster) added with your detergent enhances any laundry detergent whether you're washing greasy jeans or kids clothes!...It is best to let your soap mix with the water before adding the clothes for optimum cleaning...Currently, I am using new concentrated "All" Mighty clear liquid. Best for your buck.....Cheer & Tide are OK, but do try the 20 Mule Team with them. It's at most discount stores in laundry soap section.

Any liquid product that is suitable for baby clothes is better, unscented if possible, brand name or store brand. No dyes, additives, excess chemicals. Unless you work on a farm or in a mine, use half of what they recommend, pre-treating tough stains....it will get stuff clean and ensure you and your kids/family get no skin irritations from the junk that is added to other products as "filler". It costs a few cents more per load.

Tide or Cheer. As much as I love the smell of Gain, I didn't feel like it was the best detergent to clean clothing.

I have used every one of them. And the only one I ever use on my tough stains is WISK. I even have my own pretreat concoction that I mix in a little spray bottle and use it on EVERYTHING>including colors. 1 part chlorine bleach to 3 parts WISK. On new clothing I only use the WISK with colorguard and then after about 3 washings I can use my pretreat.

Tide or Cheer

I used Tide forever until they changed the scent. It irritated my eyes and throat so I switched to Cheer.

I think they are all basically the same. Its the name that sells most of them. But if you follow directions any will work for you depends on how much you want to spend .

I use ALL Small & Mighty. I love it! It is in a very small bottle but you only have to use a small amount ans it does get your clothes clean. And that little bottle seems to last forever!!
