There are quite a few teams that can make a run at the Finals this up coming year, so I am going to number them 1-5 in order of Greatest Chance of making the NBA Finals. And for the #1 I will explain why they are my #1.
West: 5. Lakers 4. Clippers 3. Suns. 2. Spurs 1. Mavericks
I believe the Mavericks have the best chance of making the Finals again this year, because they have put together almost the same team, Kieth Van Horn has yet to be resigned, but he does not play a major role. They are young, athletic, and have a young smart coach. They are one of the deepest teams in the NBA, they have 10 players that can go for 20 on any given night, and have one of the best 1-2 punch PG's in the game.
East: 5. Magic 4. Nets 3. Pistons TOSS UP: Miami & Chicago
Okay, I still have not decided on who will be better, Miami or Chicago, but just because the Pistons are #3, doesnt mean they cant make the Finals, Big Ben was a bigger addition for the Bulls than he was a loss for the Pistons. Okay, Miami is most likely going to lose Alonzo and Payton, two vetern leaders, that can still make big plays. So when Shaq or Jason Williams gets tired, who is going to come in for them? That is why they are not lock for #1. But they still have a guy that named Shaw and a guy name Wade, so there is anything short of the Eastern Conference Finals will be a failure.
Chicago, signed the biggest free agent name, Ben Wallace, traded away a big draft bust, Tyson Chandler, and picked up yet another young explosive perimeter player, J.R. Smith. The gaurds and small fowards for this team is amazing and young, Kirk Heinrich, J.R. Smith, Ben Gordon, Andres Noicioni, and Luol Deng, and I feel like I am forgetting someone else, but I cant recall a name. But now they are able to add a good young PF, P.J. Brown, and a good (noticed I said good, not dominant, his rebounding and blocked shots have decresed each of the past 4 years) center, Ben Wallace, and are prepared to make a big playoff run, the only thing that will catch up to them in inexperience.
If it comes down to Miami and Dallas, I will have to take Dallas, they finally have a Wade stopper in Maurice Ager (draft pick) and Shaq is only getting older.
If it comes down to Chicago and Dallas, I will have to take Dallas, these are 2 very alike teams, with young talent, but who will stop Dirk? Diop and Dampier proved they can slow down centers, so Big Ben wont be a factor, but the other young ones might.
These are my picks for next years NBA season.
