Hi, I'll be going to college in the fall,
and I have to make a choice between the two laptops.
I expect to use my laptop mostly for word processing,
listening to music, editing pictures, and etc.

I have been a PC user until now,
but I love the design of Apple products,
and I have heard that the use of Parallels and Windows XP
on the MacBook will allow me the "benefits of the two worlds."

Is this true?

Please advise, thanks!

don't get a mac, they are too expensive.

they don't get a 'bang for the buck' like some pc's do.

you can find some great deals on dell or hp laptops. look on the net.

i would go with a pc all the way. macs stink anyways

MacBook. It's TRUE that u can run both Mac OS X and Windows on a Mac. There are 2 ways for running Windows on a Mac: Using Apple's "Boot Camp" (Beta) software or Parallels. I recommend "Boot Camp" because it's free and it's an official Apple software.

Colleges still use a lot of Unix-based servers. The Mac operating system is now based on a derivitive of Unix. It can do most of what a PC can do but more from the Unix perspective. It depends on what your major will be, really, as to what should determine which to get. Now, if you get a Mac with the duo-core Intel processor, you can have the best of both worlds with being able to install and run both OSes.

Macs also hold their value for resale, unlike PCs.

Get a PC!!! Most universities require software that is NOT compatible with Mac.
