If you think about it, all civilizations share the same basic traits. Agriculture, language, shelter, etc. (ie culture) So, it should be no suprise that similiraties -such as pyramids- are present in multiple civilizations.

Speaking strictly for the Near Eastern civilizations, I believe that "pyramid-type" structures were used as a result of the desire to bridge the heavens and the earth. In Mesopotamia "pyramid-like" structures are known as ziggurats which are completely solid structures with a temple at the summit. It is known that many ideologies were transferred between ancient Egyptian and Mesopotamian societies; perhaps 'pyramid-like' structures were among those ideas transferred (in which direction I can't say). However, like pottery, these constructions may have been a natural occurence in human society, developing independenty of other communities (i.e. The Jomon People Japan hold the record for oldest pottery, but no evidence suggests that the idea of pottery transferred over to the Near East. It just developed independently in the NE as a natural part of human society). I can't speak on the Mayans as I know very little about them.

In ancient times, there were loss of choice of models, there was no choice at all. Non availability of civil engineers, artichets. so one and the same structure was going every where.

they aren't as similar as you think but any way the UFOs have nothing to do with it. if it's true it's the similarity of human mind and condition.
