They are one of the largest lobbyists in the US. They are our presence in the middle east. We support them because having them in the middle east is like having one of the US states in the middle of that area. We want and need that - because we have an interest in that area - oil.
It's a symbiotic relationship.
Do they control us or do we control them? It's hard to tell - our government has the same agenda they do. Do they influence our government or do we influence their's?

1. Israel is a formal ally of the United States and we are bound by treaty to support Israel in any action-tho not necessarily with troops, but with equipment and so forth.
2. Moral conviction, we are partly responsible for Israel being there and helped draft the U.N. resolution that recognized Israel as a nation.
3. We have the world's largest Jewish population and THEY VOTE.
4. Israel is defending itself from aggression, almost all nations recognize this-save for a few bleeding hearts.
5. Hezbollah and Hamas are recognized terriorist organizations and so are considered to be criminals. They have no protections under the Genevia Convention and rate the same treatment as a spy or saboteur.
6. We are mostly staying out of this.
7. I believe that the Untied States would respond in a similiar manner if put in the same situation.

Most people in the USA do not know anything about the history of the holy land. Most think the holy land is holy only to the Jews and Jews lived there most of their lives. history tells us the Jews ruled the holy land only 80 years and the country was call kingdom of Judea not Israel. There was never a country called Israel in the holy land. The Palestinians on the other hand lived in the holy land before the Jews most have a Greek back ground and lived in the west coast of the Holy land Mary the Magdalen was a Palestinian. Most Palestinians converted to Christianity. The Romans called te country Palestine . 1400 years ago the Muslims took over Palestine and kept the same Roman name of the country. During the Moslem's rule only the Jews were allowed to live in the holy land. So my point is ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL BY GOD

the U.S. along with the other allied forces gave the Jewish people the land that is now called Israel after the happenings of WWII. After this the wars started (which granted were going on before, but this was a big factor in todays wars) and because the U.S. and other countries put them there they have no choice but to support them in war.

not the other way round , the USA used the vito to stop UN from saying to israel : stop , it's like they r saying we r with u in this war israel , go on thus starting the war .

What is you problem!! They are our biggest allies in the Middle East! And where did the Palestinians get the right to attack Israel over and over with bombs aimed at civilians?

not so,,, Israel is taking the lead to protect them selves against radical Islamic terrorists groups,,,Hezbollah and Hamas,,,,The US supports Israel,, despite Condi Rice asking Israel to show restraint,,, words falling on deaf ears,, I am sure,,, Syria and Iran support the terrorists,,, Israel will do her best to spare innocence in Lebanon and Pakistan,,,,,,

first of all, they got the right when israel started killing innocent civilians with their tanks. the palestinians have rocks and knifes, fair fight? i thnk not.
israel is a much more hostel country than palestine and is the source of this violence, forcing palestine to react.
