if you feel something is wrong..it has been my experience that your feeling is right and will surface sooner or later. Pay close attention to everything they say and ask alot of questions.

In chatroom, just be cautious and assume that anything anyone says could possibly be a lie.
It is not my experience that most people in chatrooms lie, but I also am very picky about where I chat. I suppose in a lot of the dating, teen, and general chatrooms, it is more prevalent, as perhaps people are tryig harder to appear to be what they aren't.
Where I chat, most of us are pretty much up front and real, and many of us have forged real-life offline friendships as well.
However, in all online interactions with people, especially with people I don't know yet, I take nothing for granted ... I don't assume people are lying, but nether do I assume they are telling the truth ... it's kind of a wait and see attitude.
Also, if people are saying things that feel "off" .. listen to your gut.

hard to tell..most people are lying in chat rooms.
you can't believe anyone really.
in person? look at their eyes and body movements.
