The person getting Bay and Carpenter is definitely getting the better deal in the trade. You are getting two proven players who are all-stars. Bay has power, can hit for a good average, RBI, and runs. He won N.L. Rookie of the year two years ago and had great stats last year. Carpenter is the reigning Cy Young Award winner in the N.L. He is one of the most dominant pitchers in the majors and with the Cardinals lineup he will get plenty of run support. Jim Thome is having a phenomenal season. A lot of HR's, great average, RBI, and runs. The thing is the person would be getting to unproven young guys in Swisher and Cabrera. Cabrera has shown flashes of greatness but is very
inconsistent. Swisher started of the year booming and has cooled off very much. He batted around .235 last year and it looks as if he will be close to doing that again, with his average down to the .260's. Overall, anytime you can two superstars in a trade, you're getting a better deal. I'd always rather have one superstar than two mediocre players.

Hmm .. Well it really all depends on what players each team has .. but im gunna go with what i see. oh and im just guessing this is a HEAD 2 HEAD league..
well lets see .. daniel cabrera will bring ERA up .. but bring in a few strike outs .. personally i dont like this guy .. in fact he's not even on a team in my league .. so if i was offered the thome swisher cabrera deal i would try to get some one a LITLLE BIT better than cabrera .. considering i'm trading away a big starter in Carpenter..
Swisher's been in a slump lately and i think he's starting to get on track .. and thome .. i think is having his best hitting season ever .. so thome for carpenter straight up is good ... swisher and bay .. ehh .. but than a pitcher is thrown in and its a good deal all around but it really depends how this persons feels about Cabrera ..

Well .. good luck

Assuming that this is not a keeper league, I would say that thome, swisher and cabrera is the better side of the deal. Carpenter hasn't been as dominant as he was last year and Bay still plays for the Pirates. Also, Swisher is eligible for 1B/OF in most leagues and Cabrera is eligible for 3B/OF. Bay is easily the best player in the trade, but Cabrera is a close second. Add in Thomes 30 HR and it is just too one sided.

I would say the person gettingBay and CArpenter. If Thome was your Utility man you could replace him with Bay and CArpenter is a great pitcher to have on your squad. Nick Swisher is in the dumps and Daniel CAbrera hasn't won in six starts.

Whoever is getting Bay and Carpenter. Solid pitching beats good hitting making Thome for Carpenter a wash, while consistant average and power beats a guy who will slip in the second half, and a pitcher whom got demoted a few days ago. So the second part of that trade is the better deal, plus, I bet there is someone in FA that is better than Cabrera. If its you, congrats, if not, I'd not trade with that team again.

Bay and Carpenter. Carpenter was Cy Young last year and Bay's statistics other than HR were comparable to Pujols before Pujols got injured (check it out).

While Thome is money, Swisher has mono and is currently slumping, Cabrera is in the minors.
