I'm 16. This 13 year-old girl is pretty much in love with me. I've known her since I was 8 and our families are pretty close. I'm trying to be nice and telling her I don't like her, but now she's telling her friends things like "I'm heartbroken by a guy who doesn't even know he did it. Now I lie here in bed crying myself to sleep"

What do I do?

She'll get over it. I have a diary full of quotes like that from when I was that age. Everything seems like more than it is and a guy you've known for a long time seems like the fastest way to a boyfriend. I'm not saying she doesn't really like you-she probably means what she says...just don't think you're a bad person or that you're hurting her by not dating her. Letting her be leaves her available for someone who'll like her back. I would say just keep being nice, but be firm about not being interested. The less sure you seem, the more she could take it to mean you're considering it or playing hard to get. Weird, I know. =)

After reading your problem I think you are doing the right thing, Try to be nice all the time. She is going to say many things behind your back to her friends to save face. If you keep being nice and reinforcing the fact that you don't love her but would like to remain friends with her. Then when this is over you will feel allot better in your own mind because you were patient and kind with her. All young girls go Thu this in their early teens and sometimes boys will go Thu this also. Its all part of growing up. Remember, she has feelings to...... Good Luck !!

Ignore it. She's 13! Trust me she'll get over you. Just be nice when you have to interact with her but in no way flirty. Make comments like she's a good "kid" and talk about things way below her age level. It gets the point accross that you do not see her as a "grown up" and it will also iritate the heck out of her and help kill that crush.

As a girl, I know what it's like to have a crush on a guy, but the fact of the matter is, you didn't do anything, and you aren't responsible for anything. If she is saying things like that, you have only to tell the truth: you did nothing to hurt her. But I have to say, if you're crying yourself to sleep, maybe you care more than you think you do.

There isnt really anything you can do, she is just overexxaggerating and acting like a 13 year old girl infatuated. She will see another cute boy in a couple of days and forget she liked you like girls do.

And just make sure you dont lead her on, or tease or anything.
Good luck :o)

what can you do? you've done the right stuff (hopefully you let her down easy) im sorry to hear that you fall asleep like that. but dont put yourself down like that. look towrads the future. i can see your very sensetive and thats a quality girls love, so dont be ashamed of that. its onlt acceptable to cry when there is good reason for it and there is good reason for it in your situation. give her some time she will get over this senerio soon enough. but just make sure you guys remain friends. give her some space also, dont be constantly around her also. good luck.

I think you should tell her that you do like her....but only as a friend and nothing more.

Girls that age are just like dogs chasing after butterflies...as soon as some other guy comes along that interests her more than you, she'll leave you alone and and start chasing after him. Just give her some time. ;-)
