It all depends on what your primary goals are? Are you wanting to become a faster sprinter, or do you want to decrease your 10km time. What ever your aims, you need to design a program that specifically targets these aims. For example if you were training for a 10km race you need to first work on building a strong aerobic base which would consist of a lot of steady long runs. You would then start to become more specific with your training and address the race distance in particular. For example start running interval sessions that are performed at a more intense and calculated pace.
But if you are wanting to increase speed, to be faster at running a 100m sprint then you need to train specifically your fast twitch fibers in your legs. This would require a lot of speed sessions, which would include just not sprints, but also speed drills designed to help work these fibers.

Practice, practice, practice......
If u r fat, lose weight.
Increase your stamina by runing half a kilo-meter more than last time.
Definitely you will be able to run faster & longer in a month or so....

I hope you do not want fast speed, so that you can steal any thing & run away & disappear.....
Don't mind...

If you live near a beach run on the wet sand near edge of water, barefooted. It strengthens the archs of your feet and also makes your leg muscles much more stronger than running on a road or track.

practice interval running (for example, 4 minutes at an upbeat jog, and then 1 minute at all-out sprint... repeat several time), and also pyramids (for example: 200m sprint, 200m jog, 400m sprint, 400m jog, 600m sprint, 600m jog, 800m sprint, 800m jog.... then back down 600, 400, 200).
