What's the website that I can use that will provide me with free access to public records? I want to find out the final price of a house that was sold a few months back. That's public info, right?

In some state that would be public info, in some not.

For example:

In Texas that would not be public info, but you can find out how big a mortgage they put on it. (You would find the mortgage documents by going to your County Clerk or Registar's office, or type int he county and state name the words County Clerk and/or County Registar - in google and see if they have their records online, Some do some dont) That does not tell you how much they put down on the house though. The tax appraisal may or may not be in line with the current selling price.

A local realtor should be able to help you determine a fairly close value.

Hope that helps! ENJOY!!

yes, that IS public information. you can try one of two things.

1. call a local realtor. they will probably have access to this information.

2. call/go to the local assessor's office for the county the home is in. you should be able to provide the address and they can look it up. be sure to ask for the sales price, not the assessed value, as these are two different numbers most of the time.

check with a realtor first, they're probably going to be more helpful.

there is no such ingredient as free public records... no matter if you bypass right down to the court living house, you're nevertheless going to pay an administrative value, it truly is a cost for the provider. Public records means that they are open to the typical public, meaning you could view them and not using a court order or warrant. It hasn't ever indicated it as being free.

There is a plethora of records available. If you have the tax map key you can probably determine the final price through the department in your state that handles the transactions.

Many online records are way behind, if you can't find it on your state's public tax record site, you can always go to the county courthouse and inquire

Go to your local court house and search the Deed of Trust books. This will tell you the address, amount of sale, person buying, etc. You can also contact local appraisers in your area.

Duh, they're called public because they are accessible. Your particular question depends on whether the local govt. in question is on line. If not, go to the county/city clerk's office and have them help you.
