Actually, a lot of babies seem to be born on full moons. Many think it has something to do with the moons gravitational pull on the earth. I am a nurse and have been in a nursery on third shift and when I got there at 8 p.m. there were no babies in the nursery. However, by 7 a.m., after a full moon, we'd have 25 babies in the nursery.
After 18 years of nursing, I can honestly tell you that a lot of strange things happen in hospitals when there are full moons, not just a lot of babies being born. If you are due near or on a full moon, see if you go into labor then.

It really depends on the conception and your body. On Aug. 27 Mars will be very visible and appear to be as big as the moon to the naked eye. Wives tales are sometimes true. When you are in labor you will know. I can't say how but you willl know. I was afraid I'd sleep through mine though and miss it. I stayed up late wich was not a good thing.

nope. old wives tale. and actually, the one i've heard more frequently is that more women go into labor during a full moon not a new moon.

my mom has been a neonatal nurse for more than 20 years and she has always sworn that a full moon brings on a boom in deliveries. i've never heard anything about a new moon and increased birth rates, though.

yes, there is something about the gravitational pull or something. Some hospitals increase their nurses on full moons.

There is a shred of truth to it. Our cows often have their calves when there is a new moon. Maybe people aren't so different.
