Malware is software designed to infiltrate or damage a computer system, without the owner's consent. The term is a portmanteau of "mal-" (or perhaps "malicious") and "software", and describes the intent of the creator, rather than any particular features. Malware is commonly taken to include computer viruses, worms, Trojan horses, spyware and adware. In law, malware is sometimes known as a computer contaminant, for instance in the legal codes of California, West Virginia, and several other U.S. states [1].
Malware should not be confused with defective software, that is, software which has a legitimate purpose but contains errors or bugs.
Malware is a category of malicious code that includes viruses, worms, and Trojan horses. Destructive malware will utilize popular communication tools to spread, including worms sent through email and instant messages, Trojan horses dropped from web sites and virus-infected files downloaded from peer to peer connections. Malware will also seek to exploit existing vulnerabilities on systems making their entry quiet and easy.
If you'v got one:
* Only open email or IM attachments that come from a trusted source and that are expected
* Have email attachments scanned by Norton Internet Security prior to opening
* Delete all unwanted messages without opening
* Do not click on Web links sent by someone you do not know
* If a person on your Buddy list is sending strange messages, files or web site links, terminate your IM session
* Scan all files with an Internet Security solution before transferring them to your system
* Only transfer files from a well known source
* Use Norton Internet Security to block all unsolicited outbound communication
* Keep security patches up to date
So Yeah,,,Its Serious.

Malware is a VERY serious thing. It's basically a virus, only named differently. Malware can do ANY of the following: It can steal your passwords (keylog you, this included confidential information such as credit-card numbers). It can ruin/crash your computer. And there just a multitude of things it can do. Some sites may have been safe in the past, but due to the increase of hackers, and hack-teaching websites, viruses have increased on websites as well. Also, you may have had an anti-virus update, and now it sees these viruses. I would reccommend to you, to use Firefox for your internet browsing. If you use Firefox, I would also reccommend getting the extention "No-Script Block" or something like that. This should allow you to view your site, with no worries of Malware.
If you don't mind me asking, what website is it that you are trying to view?

Malware is the moniker given to any piece of software that deliberately (as in, by design) causes destructive or damaging effects on the targeted user. It doesn't have to only be a virus; some Malware's help theives get passwords and credit card numbers. As with all Spyware and Malware, it's often difficult to determine if a piece of software is legitimately malfunctioning (like say, Norton which messes with other apps and then won't uninstall), or if it's attacking you on purpose. But I would stay clear of that site either way!
