There are some typical reasons which do not seem to me as reasonable ones:
1. Love: Nowadays, love is just like a shadow-it is seen but unreal. People say, "God loves the world; I love you; let's make love;" and so on. We can hardly differ love, emotion, mere ambition, or even lust. It is said, "Love a big illusion".
2. Procreation: You don't have to get married to have babies, right? Well, many people say it is disgraceful to have a baby before marriage, but if having kids is the only purpose of marriage, you will get upset. Besides, our most of problems in the world were not caused by lack of quantity in human resources, but by lack of quality of them.
3. To find someone who helps us in the rest of our life: Basically, nobody will help you better than yourselves. Of course we need some help, but if we do not help orselves, nobody will help us.
4. To avoid sex before marriage: It is just like escaping form one crisis and running to another more severe crisis.

I got married because I was in love and wanted to share my life with that person. Why question it? That's probably why you're alone, because you try to analyze the hell out of everything. Why not just be happy in life? Not everything is a mathematical formula that you can reason out and always get the same answer.

To have a legal binding contract between 2 people. To be as close to that person as humanly possible, legally and emotionally. It is a commitment that tells everyone that you love each other so much that you want to be together forever. This way your children have the same last name as both parents and married couples are more respected than unwed couples with kids.

i dont know, i wanted a husband with good morals, who could support me and who could take care of my car.! so i married a Rig pig. who had a religious family. After being together i found out he had no money, he knows nothing about mechanics and he hates church. The reason that we got together is blurred. Finding reasons to stay married is the real quest. We have been married for almost 10 years.

Actually I am not sure how marriages got started as they are but I think it is the ultimate way that we select a mate that we hope we will be with forever. It is a way of honoring the one that you love. Letting the world know that this is your chosen one!

Looks like you really need to correct your perspectives on love, companionship and marriage. Cause these are the very things that set us humans apart from animals. Without marriage there would be no families; and without families our lives would be deranged.

Love, companionship, security, promising to be with one another--and only with one another--for the rest of your lives, commitment, and many other reasons. I ONLY marry someone if I love them. I leave them IF they lie and cheat, abuse me, etc. Other than that, I stick with them thru the ups and downs, no matter what. That is what marriage is all about: staying with each other no matter what.

It is suppose to be so that you can spend your life together, and as a result live a more fulfilling life. But the truth is most of the time you get married to get divorced. That is what happened to me, and many others.

when you find true love you will know the answer. It's wonderful to know that you give yourself completely to that person and that person does the same. It just feels good to have someone special that is willing to commit himself to you. and you to them. It is wonderful to know and to feel that that person decided to be with you and pick you to be his partner for the rest of his life.. When you get married you let all this known to everyone the. people who attend your wedding are witness of your love to that person.
