Telling me what you have made, authored, or created is not a good enough proof. And, seriously no offence against christians? But nothing about "God inspired me" or for that matter, "bhudda/spirituality/religion inspired me". I want to know about the upwelling of spontanious creativity that wells from you.

Reminder: by "you" I don't mean that I want your answer for people in general, I want to know about you, specifically, personally.

It happens either when I see something that inspires me, whether its a municipal trash can or beautiful landscape, (but only if I'm in the right mood) or when I'm about to fall asleep. I come up with excellent ideas in that half-asleep state. It allows my mind to just wander freely without all the garbage that usually fills it. But, I am never inspired if I'm in a bad mood. I always thought artists were all suffering and just poured out their painful emotions into their art but I am never able to do that.

Mine comes from combining knowledge and experience and seeing where there are matching patterns.

I do a lot of post-modern work, putting pop culture and classic culture together, which takes knowledge of them.

My own experience with culture inspires me to find niches where I can bring soe awareness or new observation.

Then, seeing the pattern between the two to form them into new ways.

That sounds very theoretical, but I'm able to do it not only in my playwriting but also in the haiku I try to write daily.

Play - it comes from a playful mind. You can train your mind to be more playful, and thus more creative. But also remember that creativity is relative. I have 0 creativity for solving accounting problems, but I can write and direct a play in no time. So it depends on the person.

You have to be moved enough to complete anything inspiring and creative. My mother is an artist, I am not. My thrill is business and I grow with that. I have been approached by many companies with job offers. It may not be creative but my offers were derived by many different, creative ideas. Good Luck!

Creativity starts with curiosity, lateral thinking helps us to develop unconventional ideas, out of the box thinking (few people assume craziness) leads to excellent ideas.
See God? and his creativity , all are unique in this world.

my creativity comes from my wacky, crazy, off-the-wall mind (that part makes what comes through my head) and from that sensitive, curious part of me (that part makes what I feel). which one do I do? it depends on my mood. does that makes sense at all???
