Warm tea bags are also healing, as well as epsom salts baths, and if you can, put on vicks vapo rub when you sleep, covered with gauze, it will draw blood to the area. What are you doing in the sand that it has that much contact? I would say just make sure the skin is healthy, lots of moisurizer on the area before going to the beach.

The colour of your dog's nose is irrelevant. Would you refrain from going to the doctor if your body was covered in rashes and scabs and was extremely itchy? Probably not. The dog needs a vet. If you are that concerned, call first and ask what the vet thinks. A call is free. I'm sure they will tell you to bring the dog in.

there is an amazing product called Pinxav that is a miracle product for rashes. They have a web site, check it out. You'll love this stuff. NBC's Today show is featuring it this friday for a segment on great summer products. Daily Candy is also writing about them this Friday.
