Some of the characteristics we associate with Jesus were also ascribed to Mithras, the soldiers' god. He was supposed to have been born on December 25, born of a virgin, and resurrected, among other things. And the New Testament we know today was ordered by Constantine. There were several books floating around, and Constantine ordered that the bishops meet at Nicenia to determine which books should be included, and to define how Jesus would be viewed, as a prophet, God, the Son of God, or what. That's also how the Nicene Creed came to be. I've heard the theory about Mary being Isis, but I've also heard that Mary Magdalene was associated with Isis, so she would have been a co-ruler with Jesus, but I've never seen any proof.

I like the Constantine theory. I'll have to look into it.
