I bought 2 this week for me and my daughter to use riding our horses, except, I chose one without stirrups, it just has a strap to hold in place. It's a lot more comfortable than bareback, my horse has an unusually boney back, ooowwwwwwwww.

Yep, I had one with stirrups--loved it. Great during shedding season!

these are simply called bareback pads. they are used to make 'bareback' riding easier on the rider and horse. i have a youth sized one with stirrups and it is much easier to use than to tack up a horse when the kids want to go for a ride (which only last about 30 minutes then they find something else they want to do). i tried to ride with it and i did not like it-maybe if it were an adult sized one it would have been better! i think bareback pads are a must in the tack room!

does your horse seem to be ok with it and do you feel comfortable with using it? And yes they can be nice to use instead of a sadle.
