The BEST book I've found is, "How to Win Friends and Influence People", by Dale Carnegie. It's been out there for a while but I was in sales for over 10 years and it helped me make friends with my clients, (which helped in my job) as well as build personal relationships. If you can find it, you should read it. It's not boring either! He makes it very interesting and you will find yourself referring back to it over and over again.
Good Luck!

Before anyone can answer that fairly they would have to know why you think your personality needs improved. You didn't offer any reasons.
Unless you're a sociopath or a schizophrenic or a compulsive whatever, there's usually little 'wrong' with a personality.
If you're somewhat introverted or insecure these are easily corrected characteristics. But the best possible solution is to seek out or mingle with people who respect the unique signature that is your individual personality.

Work in two areas to rapidly improve your personality: 1) Build self confidence. Act confident even if you aren't. Fake it til you make it. 2) Practice basic politeness at all times. That will get you a lot of favorable attention and put you ahead of 95% of the competion.
Read biographys of successful people (not entertainers).

Read "How To Win Friends & Influence People" by Dale Carnegie.
It is a classic, and has been around for 50 years, so you know that many people have used it, and it works.
Generally ya can't go wrong with treating each person the way you would like to be treated. =)
