I was raised to believe that I could date anyone no matter what their color was, where they came from ect. My mom always taught me and my sister that we could date whom ever we choose as long as the guy treated us with dignity and respect.
As I am older, I still see nothing wrong with it. Does anyone think i'm crazy or do you feel like I do?

I agree with you that people are people and you should marry for love.

But here is the rub. By accepting interacial dating you get the bagage that comes with it.
1. Different races have different cultures that will colide and cause stress, you will have to figure out how to work around it.
2. Differnt races can also mean different religions which is real stressfull.
3. While intelegent people will tell you there is no problem with it many many idiots will give you a hard time.
4. You have to think of the pressures that society will put on your kids. You may be accepting but society isn't.

It may not be great but you have to consider a bigger picture and think about more than just what is ideal. How much pain are you willing to put up with for your convictions.

But no your not crazy. But you could be a little idealistic.

But hey good luck with that.

I think it is fine, although my parents were not so open to the idea...I didn't realize my parents felt this way until I brought home a black boyfriend and my mother stood up and shouted "you are just doing this to piss me off!" Then went into another room. My boyfriend at the time thought it was hilarious...so it wasn't a big thing between us. For some reason I am kind of fond of Indian men..

interacial dating is great. It helps to break down stereotypes and racist thinking. It's kind of an old style of thinking to say that interacial dating is strange or even out of place. It's such a common thing now that it shouldn't be an issue for anyone except the slowest among us.

My typical answer to this is: "Are there races other than human that you are thinking of being with?"

In essence, I believe in only one race, the human one.

If your discussion is whether or not people of different ethnic backgrounds should be together, then yes. That is a yes on all levels, as there should be absolutely nothing to stop two people who love each other from being together.

Love as always,

Sebastian

being a bi-racial woman, of course i see nothing wrong with interacial dating. this is 2006 and unfortunately in some places ( especially in the south) nothing much has changed with the race issue. but im glad that the younger generation choose not to be ignorant as their previous ancestors and choose to explore different cultures. i believe if you want to educate yourself you have to explore. if you don't know then you don't grow.

Does your lover ( Friend ) treat you with the respect and dignity that you deserve ? If so there is no problem ! If not then there is an issue that needs to be dealt with !

Crazy? Hell no. You're speaking the truth, and your mother was smart to raise you this way. You should be able to date whoever you want. If you really love the person, race or heritage shouldn't matter.

That is good advice to live by. Date those that treat you with respect, and those that you can respect no matter the colour of their skin

Interracial doesn't have to mean black, like somepeople think.

Choose who you want, and if it doesn't cause too much trouble where you are, then it's ok.

Of course if people don't accept it in your area, then you might want to think about it first.

I really don't know if it's right or wrong.

I think even in the bible some people married other races, but I don't know what God thinks about it.

I agree with you whole heartedly. Some people just need to get over themselves and see people for who they are, not for their race, ethnicy, or color of skin. All in all it doesn't really matter. It's just the pigmentations in the skin are either lighter or darker than yours.
