I studied abroad in Cork, Ireland last summer, it was great. You just need to do your research online to find the best program for your money. You do not need to go through your school, but you may get better deals if you do. Italy would be great, but be prepared to learn Italian. Also, make sure that your classes will be available in English if you don't speak Italian. I also think that Australia would be cool as would France or Spain. Have fun and realize how lucky you are to have such a great opportunity.

hi! I think it's a great idea. I studied abroad in Germany AND I had an amazing host family to live with. As far as I now, living in dorms sux compared to living with a host family, so try to get a deal with a host family. My friends who opted for the cheaper option of dorms indeed regretted it later seeing us with the host families! (actually you do save more cos the families are sooo nice!) This allows you to really experience the language, the lifestyle, the food and the culture of the country. I would recommend going through a programme from your university as they're usually tailored and established, which would also ensure your safety and smooth-running of your study abroad. Most universities have good partnerships with colleges abroad, be it in Europe or Asia so I don't think you have to worry! The good thing about going to Europe is also having the chance to backpack in the summer or do an internship there. Have fun!

Go to the South of France. You will have great weather and can set up an internship with the Cannes Film Festival and meet movie stars.
