Maybe not but are you genuinely gualified to ask me a question either? It's free advice though. You get what you pay for you know.

I'd say that given that no one is doing it for any kind of gain since you only receive points which are meaningless really, that people answer because they genuinely want to help. They are sincere at least, if not accurate. Most of the time.
I think, with the variety of answers, you can usually pick out some truths from the bunch of responses.
Then again, given that everyone is anonymous and we have no idea about anyone's qualifications, I'd say to always take answers with a grain of salt and NEVER rely on them exclusively.
There are some people here with wicked senses of humor too, I must say. I am in awe at some people's razor sharp wit.

Having read a lot of the answers, I would have to say that most are just making noise to get their 2 points.
I tried a couple of questions just to see what happens if one puts out something pretty tough.
I got some interesting opinions, but not anything that added to what I already know about the subject (in physics).
Mostly what the people answering thought about it, but not the more solid facts I was looking for.
So, I am not that impressed

Well, nobody needs a "qualification certificate" to give answers in this site, so anyone is able to participate sharing his/her thoughts and experiences of life.
There are good and bad answers or questions here, but the rating depends on we, the users. You may rate as amazingly smart answer some that I migth think is loaded of ignorance.
For easy, light questions there are a lot of good answers. For hard, deep questions there are only one or two good answers.
Only the askers decide if it´s a good or bad answer. And if they´re in doubt, they´ll ask us for help on voting.

Overall we are qualified. The trick is participation. If you get through the ignorance that makes up a small percentage of answers you will get to the truth. The truth happens to be opinion and it changes regularly but, it is the truth none the less.
If you get many answers you can filter the truth out of the swill.

I think it would be about 75% unqualified answers and 25% have at least a little of good advice. Maybe 5-10% are really good info.
Of course there are a lot of stupid or perverted questions that don't really require a learned answer.

I also see a lot of silliness, and just plain idiocy in Yahoo Answers. The majority of answerers are probably qualified. The problem seems to be that they don't always answer questions on a topic in which they are qualified. Lots of people, lots of knowledge, lots of misdirection.

Since the qualification is to have a Yahoo account, I'd say yes most of them are qualified. It's up to the readers to realize these answers are mostly to provoke the thought that if undertaken before the question was asked would make this a boring place indeed. So please keep asking.

Everyone is qualified. That's the idea. We all have different lives. Nobody can say that that their life is more valid.
When you aren't in need of specialized, factual information, the best source is someone who can give you an answer that you never imagined. Or, who can show you something from a perspective that you can't get in your ordinary circles.

You pretty much get opinions on this site, and an opinion cannot really be rated b/c it's just an opinion.
That being said, if I had to describe the kind of answers you get on here, I'd say that most of the answes are good----there are always the few jokesters who just say anything to get noticed, no matter how nonsensical it is.

I think the serious questions do get good answers. Of course, there is always trash, but hopefully the asker is smart enough to weed that out.
The stupid questions deserve stupid answers.
I don't think I'm qualified to answer this particular question though, so all of my remarks may be patently false!
