The soundtrack is AMAZING and the only thing better is the musical itself... I went after listening to the soundtrack for a year and I could not control myself. I think it was the gayest day of my life, and I'd relive it at the drop of a hat.

Went to see Wicked last summer. Bought the soundtrack before and listened to it for the first time on the way to the theater (had to drive an hour to Chicago). Hated the soundtrack. Loved the musical.

Great soundtrack! All the songs are at least very good, and the best ones are simply fantastic. "What Is This Feeling?" is my current favorite song from ANY musical, and "The Wizard and I" isn't far from it.
Have you read the book? It's one of the most interesting books I've read in many years. I hated to see it end, because the characters were so compelling and the story so tragic. You KNEW how it was going to end (it IS based on "The Wizard of Oz"), but I found myself hoping that maybe Dorothy's aim would be off and the water wouldn't hit Elphaba.
I wish we had some tickets to send you but we haven't been able to get them ourselves -- they sold out in Portland, OR before we could buy them!
My daughter the stage-struck drama student got to see "Wicked" on Broadway, with Shoshana Bean as Elphaba and Ben Vereen as the Wizard. But then she's always been the lucky one -- two nights ago her best friend called to say they ended up with an extra ticket to see "Cyrano de Bergerac" at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival next week, and invited my daughter! So she's off for the weekend with her pal and will see "Cyrano" at the Elizabethan Theater (outdoors) in Ashland. Lucky kid...!

Yes, yes, yes! My daughter (a senior/graduate) was in band for about 7 years or so, and her high school did the music to Wicked. It was really wonderful! They were like No. 12 in the State (of Florida), which isn't bad, considering all the hurricanes, etc., we had to contend with. Anyway, I bought the book because I liked the music so well. Have you read the book?

I love wicked and know that it's playing in Chicago right now. I've seen it and love every minute of it. Defying Gravity was awesome!
