Most students can recognize their country's flag, but have they ever thought about how it was designed and what it represents? It is important that they start thinking about the ways in which people have joined together to form nations, states, and other unions. Learning about national flags will help students in this process. They will consider how a flag represents a country's people and resources and why a flag can evoke emotions.

I would say there is some deal of pride taken in the waving of a nation's flag. There is just that feeling you get when you're watching the olympics and an American wins a gold medal and the entire world looks upon our flag and sings our anthem. It is representative of an entire people-group, with a certain set of ideals. I know that it seems that these ideals are unraveling before our eyes....but ultimately my allegiance is to the Lord.

Flags are a holdover from the days of kings and castles. Every king had a castle, and a banner to identify his troops. That banner was flown over the castle to denote the presence of the king. Eventually, banners, or flags, were flown over any fortified position belonging to the king or country of interest. The US flag represents the American People, who are nominally the source of political power in this nation. Ergo, this flag can fly wherever the People congregate.

THERE IS NOTHING MORE BREATH TAKING THAN A HUGE AMERICAN FLAG WAVING IN THE WIND. I INSTANTLY FEEL PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN AND PROUD TO A PART OF PEOPLE WHO SHOW THEIR PATRIOTISM. I FEEL THE SAME WAY WHEN I HEAR THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER SUNG---SO FORTUNATE TO BE IN THIS STRONG AND FREE COUNTRY. WE ARE THE MIGHTY UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!! ITS LIKE WALKING INTO A CHURCH AND SEEING THE CROSS--ITS A REMINDER OF STRENGTH, RESPECT, HONOR, AND WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN.

Pride ! If you are not proud of your country , What do you have to be proud of ? If you feel shame or ambivalance at the display of your countries banner , What does that say about you ?
